Abstract

Cerebral palsy results from an injury to the neurologic system. While the neurologic injury is static, the resultant physical manifestations are often dynamic, changing and evolving with growth and maturation. A large majority of individuals with cerebral palsy have some degree of functional impairment of one or both upper limbs. This chapter addresses the assessment and care of the upper extremities of these individuals, focusing on surgical interventions.
