Abstract
This chapter recalls the discussions and debates which set an agenda that led to a move away from the tripartite of local authority services and departments employing social workers to the unification of local authority personal social services and the emergence of an integrated profession of social work across the United Kingdom. It notes how these changes were driven and taken forward in England and Wales by the setting up of the Seebohm Committee.
