Abstract
The literary biographer and literary translator, both writers, explore the potential of re-creative narrative to inform the afterlife of the life and work of a writer. In this context, an approach based on the characteristics of re-creative narrative in biography is proposed in a case study on the work of twentieth-century British author Richmal Crompton in Spain. An approach based on re-creative narrative reflects choices made by the biographer about the story she wants to tell. She may want to challenge myths surrounding her subject. As one of the themes in her biography, McVeigh wants to understand why readers feel a connection to Richmal Crompton’s stories. She will re-create events in the life of her biographical subject in the context of the historical periods in which Crompton and her readers lived.
