Abstract
As Arnold Williams says, in his work devoted to an account of the commentaries on Genesis published between 1527 and 1633, “To the student of ideas and to the historian of culture a somewhat detailed examination of the position of Genesis in the intellectual pattern of the Renaissance is productive of a fuller understanding of that grand epoch. Genesis is the first book of the Scriptures. It not merely satisfied the curiosity universal in all ages for authentic history of the primitive state of man, but it provided also an inspired foundation for the understanding of the whole development of history”.
