Abstract
A brief history of the Basic Income debate in the UK will be offered, followed by descriptions of three significant incidents. The Basic Income debate in the UK is found to have been characterized by an educational approach and in particular by the ubiquity of research on financial feasibility. Conclusions will be drawn in relation to the requirement for careful definition, the importance of high-quality research, and the usefulness of a diversity of approaches and institutions.
