Abstract
The linear field approximation of Einstein’s field equations is presented. The solutions of these equations inside and outside a rotating spherical shell are deduced. It is shown that inertial dragging is a consequence of the general theory of relativity . The equations of gravitomagnetism are deduced. Gravitational waves are described and related to their detection by the LIGO-detectors .
