Abstract

Vascular emergencies involving the orbits, face, and neck are relatively uncommon compared to cerebrovascular emergencies. Many are related to traumatic or iatrogenic injuries. Severe sinonasal, orbital, or otogenic infections can lead to vascular compromise such as ICA occlusion, mycotic pseudoaneurysm, or venous thrombophlebitis. Carotid blowout is a rare but potentially lethal complication of head and neck tumor. Vascular malformations such as carotid-cavernous fistula, thrombosed orbital varix, and mandibular AVM will also be discussed.
