Abstract

An IoT platform is a collection of integrated components that provide much of the common functionality required to implement an IoT system. IoT platforms have the potential to reduce complexity, cost, and length of product development by providing and supporting many common core system functions in a professional and presumably trustworthy manner. In principle, their use should enable IoT system designers to focus on their areas of expertise and the product’s unique added value and to rely on IoT platforms to complete much of the rest of the system needed for a complete system offering [1].
