Abstract

The new attention to masonry structures puts into evidence their continuous potential to be innovative architectural and engineering solutions. In the present paper, the form finding process for a pierced vault is realized. The geometry solutions were analyzed by global stability analysis. In addition, a 3D printing with FDM procedure realized the formworks for building a physical model adopted in the laboratory experiments. Finally, 3D-DIC was performed to recognize the structural behavior during the loading process on the model. DIC measurements were found in good agreement with the numerical results.
