Abstract

Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a common endocrine disease. It is most commonly due to a single benign parathyroid adenoma (80–85%) while multiglandular disease is seen in approximately 15–20% of patients, including double adenomas or hyperplasia of all four glands. The occurrence of parathyroid carcinoma is very rare (<1%) [1].
