Abstract
Parathyroidectomy for primary hyperparathyroidism can most often be accomplished through a cervical incision using a minimally invasive or focused approach . There are rare cases of mediastinal ectopic parathyroid adenomas that require a thoracic approach for complete excision. With preoperative localization on multiple imaging modalities, the thoracic surgeon is able to assist in planning an appropriate surgical strategy.
