Abstract

The evolution of society is presented as an ongoing process, without any other purpose that its own survival. This survival is threatened by fluctuations, analogous to temperature fluctuations in a physical system, but managed by the operation of the collective intelligence—the integrated operation of the individual processors, with the common part of their identities forming society’s belief system.
