Abstract
The design potential of textiles to interact with light through smart materials adaptive and reactive behavior was researched, comprising of two perspectives. A materials research focused on integration processes of the smart and conductive materials in textile substrates and a design research that studied dynamic qualities of textile color and shape change behavior in interaction with light. Throughout an interdisciplinary approach, the results attained and discussed, built up an understanding on design variables that influence textile and light behavior and their expressions of change and proposed processes to create color and shape thermo-responsive textiles.
