Abstract
It is currently known that LPG packaging plants pose a potential risk to their personnel, surroundings, and even their facilities. This was identified by studies conducted on LPG packaging plants accidents, specifically between 2011 and 2018. Their results show that at least 28 LPG plants were shut down in the country. The main dangers facing LPG plants are fires, leaks, flares, and spillages, among others. Therefore, the proposed model aims at reducing and mitigating the risks and emergency scenarios by implementing Hazard identification, risk assessment and control (HIRAC); POKA–YOKE, as engineering control measures; and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). In the creation and implementation of this model, we jointly worked with the company PUNTO DE DISTRIBUCIÓN S.A.C. The results show that significant risks reduced to 0%, whereas the overall equipment effectiveness increased by 11%. Furthermore, the quality and availability indexes increased by 2% and 2.7%, respectively.
