Abstract
This chapter reviews the key areas of all the major leadership studies and definitions to date, and from this proposes a leadership approach that addresses all of the key organisational demands and responsibilities—and accountabilities—placed on those in top, senior and key positions. The chapter reinforces the need for leadership qualities and expertise in the present and evolving environment. The chapter draws a distinction between expert and non-expert leaders, and the effects that each has on their business and operations, and on the people to whom they are accountable.
