The original version of this chapter was revised as there was an error in the second line from the bottom of page 257 in Chapter 13. The sentence that begins in that line reads: “The first and best known of these laws, the Plantation Duties Act of 1660, declared that . . . .” instead of “The first and best known of these laws, the Navigation Act of 1660, declared that . . . .”. Correction has been updated in chapter.
