Conflict Prevention in the UN´s Agenda 2030

Abstract

This chapter outlines preventive diplomacy efforts that seeking to head off, mitigate, or contain the spread of gross violations of human rights. However, such efforts are piece-meal. Attempts to make preventive diplomacy in the area of preventive diplomacy more systematic face political objections by Governments. One such initiative was the Human Rights Up Front Initiative of Secretary-General Ban ki Moon. Efforts are underway to promote a preventive role of the Human Rights Council. Another underway is to develop the preventive role of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
