Abstract
In this chapter we start to bring together some of the popular models and approaches used within quality improvement and co-design and co-production. First, we provide a brief overview of Lean thinking and the Model for Improvement, two most commonly used approaches to quality improvement in healthcare. We then do a similar exercise for co-design and co-production using the Experience-based co-design toolkit and a conceptual model for co-production. We conclude this chapter by suggesting ways that co-production might be combined with quality improvement.
