Abstract
Perennial strictly submerged plant rooted in the bottom. Shoot 0.1–0.7 m long, ovate to lanceolate, opposite leaves 8–35 mm long, unbranched roots 5–8 cm long, root hairs, growth from leaf axils. Very poor inflorescences open under water, pollen grains transferred from anthers to stigma on the surface of gas bubble evolved by stigma, fruits achenes.
