Abstract
Perennial emergent, fully amphibious plant, annual shoots, leaves from a shortened stem base. Ribbon-like or very narrowly elliptic leaves (10–50 cm long) with wide, non-differentiated petioles. Unbranched, fibrous porous roots 10–20 cm long, erect flower stems 0.1–0.5 m high, whorled panicles, flowers 5–8 mm across, fruits small achenes, overwintering only in underground organs.
