Abstract
The most identifiable output of the dissertation is the report, which is likely to be the largest piece of written work yet produced by the student. This section describes the process of creating that report, how it should be structured and the emphasis on the various parts. A further possible output is a presentation, which many universities require students to make late in their dissertation and often attracts a formal mark: guidance is given on good practices for the presentation. A few dissertation projects may also create forms of intellectual property (IP) which students or the team around them may wish to exploit or protect; IP is described in the particular context of the dissertation.
