Abstract
The convergence of the new information technologies has led to sophisticated ways to improve and automate processes that in the past were done manually. In particular, the inclusion of wireless technologies like mobile applications, RFID and Wi-Fi in the restaurant industry can reduce the levels of entropy in certain processes like order taking and its corresponding dispatch. That is the problem that the proposed restaurant management system called “Fast-Waiter” solves. In this work, we integrate an RFID module, using Arduino, which allows users to pay directly the requested amount using an RFID card. The experimental results show an important reduction in the required time to register and pay an order over conventional methods.
