Abstract
The case study comprises six sections. The first section will present the background and context of the 2005 riots. The second section will present a chronology of the October–November 2005 riots and the third section will discuss the police response. The fourth section of the case study provides a critique of the police response and the fifth section briefly discusses the main operational problems that became apparent while the critique of the police response was being examined. The conclusions drawn from the examination will be presented in the final section.
