Abstract
Here I cover advances in social science that can be used to predict average human behavior. It considers costs and benefits to cooperation. There is also discussion of why some people are unwilling to accept scientific facts, even though it might ultimately not be in their best interests to do so. Finally, these aspects are considered with respect to individual-based solutions to global problems.
