Abstract
The European Union is challenged to deliver digital innovations, AI products, and new jobs. Under the umbrella of the European Union, the proliferation of Digital Innovation Hub initiatives has resulted in a few new developments where a drive from the establishment of individual initiatives to the developing of a pan-European network and collaboration is seen. The notion of Digital Innovation Hubs has developed over time to encompass a one-stop-shop, multi-stakeholder entity that can provide companies with technical, business and ecosystem development support in the uptake of digital technologies. Given the number and different focus of DIHs, one can nowadays observe a move to coordinate and optimise the effectiveness of the existing activities both on regional, national and EU level. This creates a complex, multi-layered innovation ecosystem that is still very much under development but promising.
