Intragastric Balloon for Weight Management

Abstract

Inserting and removing an intragastric balloon – air - or fluid-filled – requires a minimum arsenal, including a gastroscope, endoscopic forceps, and an endoscopic catheter with a needle to perforate and aspirate the balloon content. Some accessories are also helpful and should be available upon balloon removal, if any complication happens. The aim of this chapter is to discuss each specific equipment available and demonstrate some techniques of use. The equipment use is explained, and some advices regarding the particularities of each commercially available balloon are shown.
