Abstract
Ripening of bananas can be affected by their growing conditions including soil and cultivation and the climate and weather during production. Various diseases can infect banana plants in the field and those diseases and the way they are controlled can affect their postharvest life. A major influence on banana fruit quality is their maturity when they are harvested. So important is the factor that complex methods have been developed and, especially for export, a combination of several methods is used.
