Abstract
This chapter focuses on process and procedures, standards and criteria, achievements and challenges, and lessons learned from institutional and training programme (programme for short) accreditation of Vietnam higher education. First, the chapter illustrates the legal corridor system for higher education accreditation and the organizational structure of the accreditation system and clarifies the state management, roles and responsibilities, and roles of accrediting agencies in Vietnam. The second section presents the current processes and procedures of the institutional and programme accreditation. Third, the status of the implementation of accreditation activities in Vietnam’s higher education at both institutional and programme level is highlighted, followed by an evaluation of the advantages, disadvantages, and challenges of the accreditation processes. Finally, the lessons learned from accreditation are discussed and recommended in terms of using accreditation results, improving higher education quality.
