Abstract
Recent progress in nanotechnology and materials science has paved the way for fabrication of deterministic fractal and multifractal structures at nano- and micro-scales. Synthesis of various materials, such as nanocomposites, based on this type of structures leads to end products with highly improved physical (mechanical, thermal, optical, electric) characteristics. However, the increasing needs of modern society require advanced materials with predefined properties and functions, and thus a fine control of their properties, when subjected to external factors such as magnetic fields, temperature gradient or mechanical tensions, is of prime importance.
