Abstract
Combating the obesity epidemic from the perspective of risk management means utilizing a combination of four effective strategies: (1) practicing enterprise risk management enables risk managers to understand all risks an organization faces and their potential impact. (2) Standardizing the risk assessment process facilitates rapid and consistent risk identification. (3) Applying decision analysis through the process of value-driven enterprise risk management optimizes potential risk solutions/treatment options. (4) Implementing the process of design thinking can establish uniquely appropriate and specific treatment alternatives. Together, these four methods can improve the health of various populations, the patient experience, and the ability to provide care safely and effectively.
