Abstract
This chapter describes radiographic changes in the knees. The chapter consists of various cases and practice questions relating to the most common types of arthritis and other abnormalities of the knee including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition disease, hemophilia, septic arthritis, and avascular necrosis. The chapter also discusses some rare disorders involving the knee including hereditary multiple exostosis (HME) and primary synovial osteochondromatosis. The chapter uses examples of both X-ray and MRI imaging to provide an overview of the approach for diagnosing a patient with knee pain or swelling.
