Abstract

Currently, obesity is one of the most worrisome diseases of humanity. Bariatric surgery is the gold-standard therapy to address moderate and severe obesity, but it fails to achieve broad acceptance. In this sense, endoluminal alternatives to bariatric surgery are particularly opportune and may entail malabsorptive, evacuation, space-occupying, and endoluminal gastric reduction procedures. The aim of this chapter is to review current data on the latter modality, especially regarding the primary obesity surgery endoluminal (POSE) and the endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty procedures.
