Abstract
According to P. Gerald Krüger two new lines of helium originate from the anomalous terms (2p)2 3P 012 and (2s)2 1S 0. Energy calculation together with stability considerations favour the interpretation of the first line. The explanation of the second line is almost certainly erroneous for energy reasons and because it appears improbable that this line should be attributed to atomic helium.

One year later, in 1935, Ta-You Wu found a 19% mistake in his calculation. Once corrected the mistake, the partial support to Krüger’s assignment resulted untenable. It is somewhat ironic that, as U. Fano pointed out in a conversation with E. Amaldi, Wu’s work has been frequently quoted while Majorana’s almost never.
