Abstract
For a long time, the optical microscope was the main instrument used for research into the properties and classification of meteorites; for example in determining the specific concentration of round inclusions (chondrules). The surprising thing is that chondrules have so far only been found in meteorites. Their origin remains a mystery, because the mechanisms of their formation are unknown.
