Fractures of the Elbow

Abstract

Though commonly encountered in clinical practice, pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures can be challenging to treat. In order to avoid the potential pitfalls in the evaluation and management of these patients, a systematic approach must be adopted. A directed history, thorough physical examination, and review of the appropriate imaging will determine the type and timing of treatment, as well as follow-up and prognosis. This decision-making process, along with intra-operative tips and tricks, is demonstrated in two illustrative cases.
