Abstract
People of Guatemalan heritage are among the Hispanic/Latino population in the US. Whereas Guatemalans may share a common Spanish language with other Hispanic groups, they are, nonetheless, a unique cultural group. Health-care providers must be knowledgeable regarding variant cultural characteristics (see Chap. 1) to provide culturally competent care for patients of Guatemalan heritage, remembering that this aggregate profile will not fit every Guatemalan.
