Abstract
Multifocal intraocular lenses may open new horizons of treatment in patients who have special problems. The possibility of gaining good vision in different distances without the need of spectacles or contact lenses might be a solution for many challenging clinical situations. In this chapter, we discuss different clinical situations and the special considerations concerning multifocal intraocular lenses implant in these cases. Among these clinical situations is implanting these lenses in children; glaucoma patients; patients who suffer from maculopathy, amblyopia, dry eye syndrome, and surface diseases; monocular patients; and others. In this chapter, one can find the answer to one of the most important preoperative questions, “should I or shouldn’t I implant a multifocal intraocular lens in this case?”
