Abstract
Writing psychological reports for individuals with intellectual disabilities can be a daunting task due to the complexity and nature of their concerns and developmental histories. This chapter reviews important considerations when writing reports for those with intellectual disabilities, as well as a possible structure for these reports—including critical elements and the order in which the information might be presented. Additionally, the issue of confidentially is discussed including informed consent, understanding the scope and implications of the diagnosis, and the provisions intended to keep the consumer and their advocate safe. Finally, issues of confidentiality and safeguarding files and test data are reviewed.
