Abstract
So now we know the tuna family that emerged on out plates over the course of the twentieth century, we also should have a look at the different fishing methods to understand the sustainability challenge for tuna in the third millennium. The time when industrial fishing was limited to the classic almadraba nets, anglers and line fishermen is long past. Modern tuna fishing used different techniques. If you look at a can of tuna or read the label on a fresh or frozen piece of tuna in the supermarket you might see the following.
