Abstract

The problems arising in working out damage accumulation scenarios in performance based designing are considered. These include specifying the group of limiting states for the structure under consideration, specifying the design input for each limiting state, establishing the criterion of the limit state occurrence, methods of calculating the structure for estimating the limiting state occurrence, and methods of improving the damage accumulation scenarios. An example of the calculation and design of the bridge pier destruction scenario is considered.
