Abstract
Six pieces of my fiction, used as models for various topics I assigned to my students, had originally been written during a period of fifteen years, 1993–2008. Here they are in chronological order: “Sherlock Holmes’ Last Case: The Letter” (in The Fourth Circle, a novel, 1993), “Infernal Library” (in The Library, a mosaic novel, 2002), “The Telephone” (a stand-alone story, 2004), “ Fingernails” (in Twelve Collections, a mosaic novel, 2005), “Lost Illusions” (in Amarcord, a mosaic novel, 2007) and “The First Loop” (in Escher’s Loops, a novel, 2008).
