Abstract

In this text, Busa presents an overview of the work, organization and aims of the Centro per l’Automazione dell’Analisi Letteraria (Centre for the Automation of Literary Analysis; CAAL), which he set up in Gallarate, Varese in the mid-1950s. In the early years of the centre its operations were carried out in various premises in Gallarate, which were loaned to Busa by local Gallarate businessmen who were associated with the “Finance and Administration Committee” of the Index Thomisticus (Busa 1980, 85).
