Abstract
This chapter briefly discusses budgets and budget forecasting, including a mention of similar previous publications. It describes the four parts of the text. Finally, it provides a review of the chapters, which are organized to reflect international and national budget forecasting in the first part, state and local budget forecasting in the second part, subject matter specialties in the third part, and a conclusion in the fourth part.
