Abstract

We provide the reader with a concise review of the theoretical background needed, and we set the specific context and our notation. We review the notions needed in finite group theory, modular representation theory, homological algebra, and, in view of recent developments in the study of endotrivial modules, we also include some concepts from algebraic topology.
