Abstract

This chapter will explain how rheumatic diseases and aging (with a focus on rheumatoid arthritis and systematic lupus erythematosus) can affect the feet. Foot conditions that require referral to an appropriate specialist will be identified. Common problems affecting the feet will be discussed, and self-management advice that the nurse can provide will be included. The chapter will also discuss the role of the podiatry profession in managing foot problems.
