Abstract
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) encompasses treatments that are not considered to be a part of typical conventional medical practice. While the evidence for these therapies is generally lacking, patient demand has driven many of them into ubiquity. Practitioners must be aware of the limitations and potential side effects of these therapies and counsel patients regarding the appropriateness of their integration into the overall treatment plan.
