Abstract
Via Yale to Leiden Oort travelled to New Haven and Yale in 1922. His duties were mainly the operation of a zenith telescope for latitude determinations. In the end he stayed for two years, interrupted for a few months to complete his military service in the Netherlands. In 1924 he made an extensive tour of the USA, spending some time in Pasadena, California and Mount Wilson Observatory before returning to the Netherlands to start his appointment in Leiden.

new work skills.
