Abstract

Treatment options for patients with inoperable chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension have expanded with the availability of balloon pulmonary angioplasty and pulmonary hypertension targeted medical therapy. Often, both options are appropriate for the provision of care for those patients who are not deemed candidates for PTE surgery. As illustrated by this case, the task of selecting patients suitable for balloon pulmonary angioplasty can be a difficult one, typically requiring input from diagnosticians, radiologists, and surgeons experienced in the evaluation and treatment of patients with CTEPH.
