Differentiated Teacher Evaluation and Professional Learning

Abstract

In the final chapter, the editors synthesize and summarize key concepts distilled from the chapters. The importance of principals’ knowledge and skills, the authors emphasize, is fundamental to effective differentiation. Moreover, actionable policies are necessary to support strategies of individualization according to teacher professional learning needs. The existing system of evaluation and professional development may be limited in resources to work individually with each teachers’ needs over a career continuum. Continuing dialogue, innovative solutions, and additional research is needed to further develop policies and practices of differentiated teacher evaluation and professional learning designed to promote teacher growth throughout a career.
