Abstract
The educational preparation of the faith community nurse is significant in preparing the nurse to practice within the scope and standards of professional nursing practice and to standardize the role. Educational preparation of the nurse ensures an approach to practice that includes addressing how a person defines health. The authors will discuss what is essential to faith community nursing education and how this education has evolved. The Foundation’s Course for Faith Community Nursing will be described in-depth as a best-practice education model for entry into the practice nationally and globally. In addition, the Faith Community Nurse Leadership Course for Coordinators will be presented as an important ingredient in forming leaders in the practice to ensure quality and safe practice.
